How is Your Faith Walk? (To My Friend Who Left the Faith)

By Nina Mistula

It is disheartening to see people who used to serve God with their whole hearts now living their life away from the Lord. What is more sad is that there was nothing we could do about it. Whatever their reasons were, we may never know. But this series is not only about those who left the faith. This is also about believers who are slowly losing faith.

How is your faith walk? Are you still walking that straight path of righteousness? Or are you slowly hovering to the left or to the right? When Christians experience suffering in their life, they feel like God is not there. If He is there, then why does He allow us to suffer. But this is expected of servants of God. The enemy will attack with a full force so we have to learn how to stand strong in our faith.

How strong is your faith? Will you be shaken when a lot of troubles come your way? Check our hearts. Do you still walk by faith? Or are you starting to walk by sight? There are so many reasons why our faith can be lost. But one reason is when we feel like God disappointed us. Wow. God disappointing us? Who are we anyway? When we want something and it does not come to pass. When we have plans and they do not come into completion. Sometimes we are lazy to serve when God does not give the desires of our heart. Also, we have so many questions to God. But these are questions that He can only answer. What can we do? We must lead all these people to God. Bring them to church. Invite them to Bible study. Make them listen to worship songs. It is the duty of the believer to bring these people back to their first love.

So how can you avoid losing your faith. Pray always. Without ceasing. Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.” The world will confuse you. But if you look to God all the time, your faith will not waver. If you do not hear Him, open the Bible. All the answers to your questions are there. Have faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we live by faith and not by sight.” No matter how difficult life gets, do not let your faith waver. Go straight to God with your questions and wait for His answer. Faith is deciding to trust God’s love, character and promises no matter what our circumstances may be.  Believe. John 11:2526 says, “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” It is difficult to believe this. But if you experience His love and His blessings, you will believe without a doubt. You will not lose anything if you believe in Jesus Christ. But you will lose everything if you don’t.
