Make My Heart One with God’s Heart

By Pastor Alex Ruelo

We will not know what God wants us to do if we do not read the Bible. Can we make our heart one with God’s heart? In Psalm 1, it is very clear how to do that. Be a Psalm 1 man…

1.Advice of the ungodly - there are so many wrong advices that people listen to. Learn how to distinguish that which is godly.

Psalm 1:1a says, “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the counsel of the wicked

2. Activity of sinners - Not because something is trending does not mean it is right.

Psalm 1:1b says, “or stand around with sinners,”

3. Attitude of scorners - Scoffers believe nothing is sacred; everything is just art. They do not care about the consequences of their actions too.

Psalm 1:1c says, “or join in with mockers.

2 Timothy 3:2 says, “For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.” This is not new to anybody because they were dead in Ephesians 2. But you are here to show they who Jesus is. Love them all the more. Stand firm in the faith. John 15:4-5 says, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” There is nothing you can do without the Lord. If you want to have the heart of God, you need to remain in Jesus and turn away from sin.

Exodus 33:15-16 says, “Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.”” If God’s presence is not there, you must want nothing to do with it.

V2. “But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.”

A Psalm 1 Man is

  1. Excited for the word of God. His passion for the word is extraordinary.

  2. Repeats God’s word to himself all the time. His practice for the word is impeccable. Practice makes perfect anyway.

  3. Studies God’s word day and night. His persistence in the word does not end. The word of God affects the triune being. Watch your in-betweens.

V.3 “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.

Do you know what happens to the Psalm 1 man? His life becomes extraordinary!

  1. His stability - There is blessing when you obey God’s word. Trials and troubles might come your way but you do not falter. The person who stands on God’s word will not look for his place in this world because he knows where he stands in heaven.

  2. His supply - When a tree is beside a stream, it will not lack water. If everything comes from God and your heart is one with His, know that everything will come your way. You will never experience drought.

  3. His success - The one whose heart is near God’s heart will always triump in all his undertakings, big or small, because everything was done for the Lord.

Luke 22:42 says, ““Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”” Jesus chose death to save you from your sins. What are you choosing today? Choose to be someone. Choose to be the Psalm 1 man.
