We Can Make It

By Pastor Alex Ruelo

God holds the future in His hands. You will make it if you embrace the new; in every and any situation in your life. Even with a new president in tow. God is the author of good things. He will not allow anything bad to happen to you. But whoever sits as a ruler of this country, biblically speaking, God appointed him there. God cares for His Filipino children. This country has gone through some of the worse things in the world. God will not allow more bad things to happen to it. Pray for your leaders even if you do not approve of them. Change should begin with you, Christians. Spread God’s word instead of lies.

So much hatred, so much pain

Shedding tears for so many years

Too much sin, chaos in this world

Too much darkness, let there be light

You need a light in the darkness. But if you spread only hatred and anger, no matter how much light is shed by God, you will only receive darkness.

It's the time for love

Not the time for hate

A time for joy

Not the time for tears

A time for sharing

Not the time for sin

Hey it's the time

Millions are dying everyday

Nuclear arms, spurring destruction

So much war and death in this world

Too much darkness, let there be light

The world has so many problems as it is. Do not think of problems that are not yet there. You speculate too much about what the president might do because his father committed unthinkable acts. Give him a chance and let God work on him.

It's the time for life

Not the time for death

A time to build

Not the time to destroy

A time for peace

Not the time for war

Hey it's the time

The country is starting anew. It is starting to get back on its feet after the pandemic. Do not allow the enemy to destroy what God is fixing. Do not allow your country to be destroyed even while it is being rebuilt again. This is the season to begin.

So much hunger, they deserve to be fed

So many homeless, they deserve a shelter

No food, no home, no bright tomorow

Too much darkness, let there be light

No to hunger, feed the hungry

No to the homeless, a shelter for all

A time to make a bright tomorrow

It’s the time

The country has so many problems right now. This is song is very appropriate for this time.

Oh we can make it if we try

Just close your eyes and pray to GOD

If we all give instead of take

The world could be a better place

Oh, la la la la la la la, yeah

Oh we can make

Yeah, we can make

Oh we can make

Yeah, we can make it

God is a god of second chances. Every time you fail, God is always there to protect you. Although some believe that the country is hopeless because a certain candidate won, some are still hopeful. For when you forget that God is the supreme ruler who holds the country ultimately in His hands, then you will be lost. The world has experienced the worst leasers it has ever known. But it stands. Because God is all-powerful than all of the people you have tried to put into power. He rules this country thus you are blessed.

Ecclesiastes 3 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.” All things have their own time. This country may prosper in the next couple of years. But there is a process. When you plant, you do not reap right away.

In between seasons, there is a process. You will not be automatically successful. The country will be prosperous when the process is not disregarded. Allow the process to succeed. In every decision that you make, there is a consequence. God gave the country a new season. But it has to go through a new process. It is sometimes called democracy.

The elected officers are in the same slate. There will be a big change in the country because the president, vice-president and senators are walking on the same road. But you cannot just depend on them because the enemy can destroy families and countries when change is on its way. It can be abused. You need to be careful with the process. And that is when Christians come in. They should be praying for the leaders and their country.

In between seasons, there is a journey. The Philippines only has 2 seasons. Sunny and rainy seasons. Other countries have four. But in every season, time passes before you cross over to the next. Time can be fast or slow. When you are having a great time, it goes very fast. When you have a problem, it can go very slow. The success of a person depends on his journey. If you do not do what you are supposed to be doing, time will go slower for you. Before you become successful, you will have to take one step at a time so you can reach your final destination and make it. You cannot skip a step. It might be dangerous for you. Sometimes, you do not see success from where you are standing. Allow this season to change one day at a time, one step at a time. Enjoy the journey with Jesus and with your family.

In between seasons of planting and harvesting, there is growth. You do not reap right after you sow. It takes time. There is also a process. It does not happen overnight. But before it grows, it will need to be watered and pruned. I do not know what season you are in right now. Growth is sometimes painful. But it is necessary. Remember that you are not citizens of the world. You are just journeying here on earth. When you reach the maturity that God wants you to reach, you will enjoy God’s promise to you. Do not hinder what God is trying to teach you. Accept it with an open heart and mind.

It is your season.

Trust God. Psalms 1:1-3 says, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.” If you trust God, you only trust him without compromise. You need to trust God to work through your leaders too; that the country will be better than before.

Think of others. This is not the time to be selfish. Wherever you are right now, share Jesus and what He has done in your life. You need to reach your family, your neighbors, and people near you. Misunderstandings will disappear if you have the same faith. Show your Christianity in more ways than one. Stop spreading lies and even negative truths on social media. Give instead of take. Show love.

Be an ambassador of Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:11 says, “Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.” The church is growing. Praise Him for what He is doing in your life everyday. Whatever season you are in, may Romans 8:28 satisfy your soul. It says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Joseph also said in Genesis 50:20 said, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” He did not really do anything wrong. He was simply relaying his dreams to his brothers. He was sold as a slave, given a nice job and accused of raping Potiphar’s wife. He was imprisoned and was set free after some time. When he saw his brothers, it was then that he realized that what they intended for bad, God intended for good.

When you look around you, in your surroundings and your social media, may you see God. And see that what other people intended for harm, God intended it for good. There is no other hope but Jesus Christ. We will make it.
